Am I TOO mean?

Last night was our last music review rehearsal where I can go over parts. Our next singing rehearsal is with the orchestra and we won't have time to fix singing. I thought the rehearsal went well but I also felt like I was rushing everything. I get frustrated when I teach something and then it's thrown out the window and I have to reteach it. We had to go over some parts and fix a few things but in the end our cast is wonderful. They have their parts down great and most everyone is memorized on all of their songs. Towards the end of rehearsal everyone started to get bored, tired and impatient. I started to react to the way they were acting. I might have been too mean. When we were done with our singing rehearsal, before we dismissed everyone, I told them that I really want them to remember everything we went over and relearned and to please practice at home. I begged, I pleaded, I did everything but offer them money to not forget and to always sing the songs as perfect as they did that night. I then told them that if they threw the music out the window and just say the melody half-hearted, I wouldn't come to the performances. THAT might have been too mean. I just know that our cast is soooo extremely talented and I know that they can give 110% in dancing, acting and singing. They just need to believe that they can do it themselves.

You are NOT too mean. I think it was very fair of you to be so adamant about singing well and actually singing the parts we learned. I want the show to sound good, too! I'm proud of our cast!

I agree with Megan: you are not too mean. Things have to get done, and there is a short amount of time to do it. Please also be aware that no one I know was bored! We were all having fun listening to the beautiful music! You're awesome!

I'm a little disappointed at the level of mean-ness. With the title I got a little grin and expected to laugh with mirth. So, in my opinion, not too mean. (Much to my dismay.)
