He Touched Me!!!

As I mentioned in a previous post I was going to do what I could to meet Jonathan Crombie. Not only did I get to meet him but I got a picture of him with me and he has his arm around me!!!!!He was sooooo nice and still REALLY REALLY cute!!! At one point he said "sorry" in his really cute accent and way. Those of you who have seen Anne of Green Gables know what I mean. My heart literally stopped when he said that. Stephanie does a good impression of my reaction. He actually stayed and chatted a bit with us. The other awesome thing is that he didn't care too much for the third "Anne" either. Don't get me wrong, it was cute and I still watch it a lot, it just didn't follow the book at all, which he agreed with. When I was going to get my picture with him, Steph said "Maybe we should ask the famous person first if we can have a picture" and he said "I'm not famous" and my responce was "yes you are!!" I think it made him feel good. I was on cloud 9 after that. I couldn't even sit down. Out of all of the famous people I have met, this would have to be my number 1 favorite experience. I could have lived without the psycho lady next to us, but even that makes the story better.

And the show was fabulous!! One of my new favorites. I bought the soundtrack and it's not the same without Jonathan but it's still wonderful! If you ever get a chance to see The Drowsy Chaperone, go and see it!!!! You will love it!

And I love Jonathan Crombie!!!

Converting Carrie Underwood

A co-worker and very good friend of mine just got his mission call. He was called to the Nashville, Tennessee mission. Whoo-hoo!!!! We're all very excited. Everyone kept guessing he would be called to Russia but he always said he had a feeling he would be state side and somewhere southern. He's really excited! The mission also covers part of Kentucky and Illinois. One of the first things someone said to him was, "Maybe you'll get a chance to convert Carrie Underwood!" He said he'll keep his eyes out for her. I took his missionary picture for his paperwork and this is one of the photos. I'm really excited with the choice that he made to go on a mission. I know that he will be a wonderful missionary. He is caring, sweet and very polite. The Lord will truly bless him for his works.

I *heart* Jonathan Crombie!

Hutch and I have season tickets to the Capital Theater's "Broadway Across America" which means we have season tickets to the Broadway touring shows that come through. We originally signed up for season tickets so we could have guarenteed Wicked tickets. Well our tickets were for last night. I was unable to attend because we had a Bye Bye Birdie performance. Stephanie and I decided to buy tickets to the Saturday matinee so we could still see the show. It's The Drowsy Chaperone. It was originally opened on Broadway with Sutton Foster and I love Sutton Foster. She is extremely talented. So I'm excited to see the show. Then last night Stephanie receives a text message from her sister Colleen (Colleen used Steph's ticket last night. My mother-in-law Dorene used mine). And it said "You will never look at Gilbert Blythe the same again" we both looked at each other confused. Is the character Gilbert Blythe in it or is the actor Jonathan Crombie in it? We asked and yes! Jonathan Crombie is in The Drowsy Chaperone. Which means JONATHAN CROMBIE IS SALT LAKE CITY RIGHT NOW!!!! For those of you who know me, know that I love Anne of Green Gables and I love Jonathan Crombie. Who doesn't? So Stephanie and I have decided that when we go to the show Saturday afternoon we are going to wait outside the back stage door for an autograph and hopefully pictures. My mom said that this musical is now her new favorite musical and Hutch said he loved it and wants the soundtrack. So if you get a chance, get some tickets before it's over. Sunday is the last day it's here. For more information on the show check out this article from the Deseret News.
The Drowsy Chaperone
I just hope Jonathan Crombie doesn't get a restraining order out on me for stalking before I get to see the show.

I'm Not Pregnant, Just Fat!

As many of you are aware, Hutch and I have been trying to get pregnant for the past year to no avail. We're trying to be patient and we know the Lord will bless us with a child when he is ready to. But it doesn't help when people keep asking if I am pregnant. It happened again yesterday. Someone I work with from another company was talking to me and said he asked the girls I work with if I was pregnant. I told him I wasn't. What is wrong with people these days!!??!! You NEVER ask a girl if she is pregnant. Even if it's obvious, she could just carry her fat in her stomache, case in point. I've had people asking me if I'm pregnant since I was 18 years old. I was in Pirates of Penzance at Hale when I was 18. One of the girls in the cast was pregnant and put it in her bio. I had soooo many people congratulate me on my pregnancy. My poor sister, who is smaller then I am, was asked if she was pregnant yesterday too. She was at Harmons with her 6 year old and 2 year old twins. The twins are really good at being 2 and were demonstrating it in the middle of the store. So my sister was already having a hard time, when the lady at the register asked if she was having a boy or a girl. She almost cried. But she turned to the lady and said, "I'm not pregnant, just fat." And the embarressed cashier continued without saying anything. Kudos to my sis!! Some might say that my sister was rude but I don't care. It was ruder to point out her weight. This problem with people thinking I'm pregnant is one reason I don't like going to my parents ward. I went and sang at my parents ward just after I got married and a lady in their ward came up to me and said "I asked your mom if you were pregnant because your face is so round now. She said that you weren't". WHY ARE YOU TELLING ME THIS! So please world, please please please don't assume someone is pregnant. If you think they might be, ask someone close to that person but not in ear shot of the person in question. OR even better, wait for that person to make an announcement. AND, don't ever ask a pregnant person if they are having twins. Chances are, they aren't. Jumping off of soapbox now.

Stay Awake! Zzzzzz......

With how busy I have been with the show, work, illnesses and family, it's hard to get the sleep that I need at night. I find myself dozing at my desk. I'm trying to go soda-free so getting a coke isn't an option. Some of you might be experiencing the same thing. So to help you all out, here is a list I came across of what to say if caught sleeping at your desk. 10. "They told me at the Blood Bank that this might happen."
9. "This is just a 15 minute power nap they raved about in the time management course you sent me to."
8. "Whew! Guess I left the top off the Whiteout. You probably got here just in time."
7. "I wasn't sleeping! I was meditating on the mission statement and envisioning a new business strategy. "
6. "I was testing my keyboard for drool resistance."
5. "I was doing a highly specific Yoga exercise to relieve work-related stess. Are you discriminatory toward people who practice Yoga?"
4. "Darn! Why did you interupt me? I had almost figured out how to handle that big accounting problem."
3. "Did you ever notice sound coming out of these keyboards when you put your ear down real close?"
2. "Who put decaf in the wrong pot?"
1. Raise your head slowly and say, "...in Jesus name, Amen."

I Have a Theory! It Could Be Bunnies!

I have a theory that if you're afraid something bad will happen, if you talk about the bad things that could happen, it lesses the chances of them happening. Tonight is our last rehearsal before we open tomorrow. It's our final dress rehearsal and our tech rehearsal. We've already had some interesting things come up so I'm going to put my theory to the test. If I make a list of bad things that could happen, then they won't happen.

1. Our leads lose their voices
2. The orchestra doesn't arrive until 7 p.m.
3. The set pieces break while they are being danced on
4. The community college double booked
5. Costumes/set pieces were stolen
6. Costumes/set pieces were ruined from sprinklers
7. Someone pulls a Diva fit
8. Austin's appendix bursts
9. Someone throws up on stage
12. Someone's costume rips during the show
13. Someone falls into the orchestra pit
14. 20 Mack trucks drive across the stage during the courthouse scene
15. We lose power

Those are all that I could think of right off hand. So this will mean we will have a great rehearsal tonight. Our cast is wonderful and talented and have worked really hard so I'm not worried.

I'm Not Faking

I sent an email to my boss on Tuesday that read, "I'm leaving at 1p.m. today and not coming back." That wasn't a forever threat, just for that day. I went to the doctor too. Well, not the "doctor" I went to a "Doctor in a Box". My current family doctor has a 3-4 day waiting list. I could be dead by then. I really need a new doctor. So I went to an Instacare. Many of you already know that I'm involved with Bye Bye Birdie for Taylorsville (opens tomorrow!). We have had everything pass through the cast. We've had stomache flus, sinus infections, bronchitis, appendicitis (ok, that isn't catching but one of our cast members does have it). As I mentioned in my previous post, I woke up Tuesday feeling terrible. I went to the doctor because it seemed like a sinus infection and I can't afford to be sick too long so I went to the doctor first thing. When I get there, the nurse and doctor treat me like I'm lying and faking it. I don't go to the doctor for a cold, if it's a cold tell me and I'll go on my way! So the "doc in a box" looks in my ears, my throat and taps my sinuses. That's it. Then says I have a sinus infection but it's viral so it's no big deal. Then gives me a prescription for decongestion. (they have to do prescriptions for those now because apparently drug dealers use something in it). And that's it. No antibiodics, just a decongestion. I still feel like crap but I can breath a bit better. Maybe it's just me, maybe I don't need an antibiodic but you shouldn't treat people like they're wasting your time. What ever happen to bedside manners?
