Lucky?

I went and got measured for my costume for the next show I'm doing. While I was there one of the producers came by. I've known this person for a long time and this person knows me and they have only ever been nothing but nice to me. This person stopped by me and said Hi and then they said "Do you know how lucky you are?" I said, I know, I'm very excited to be a part of this show. I was shocked when I was cast. She said that a lot of people auditioned so I'm very lucky to be in the show, there seemed to be a lot of emphasis on the words "lucky" and "you". I didn't think much of our conversation at that moment but later I got to thinking...was that a compliment? It almost had the sound of "I wanted to cast someone else but they cast you so you're lucky" but I've never known this person to be mean so maybe she just meant that yes I am lucky because a lot of people auditioned and I must have shown something that they wanted so I was cast. Am I over analyzing? I have always asked myself "why did you get cast when people who are more talented than you didn't?" Am I just being down on myself? Am I just lucky?

I think you are very talented and deserve to be in the show. :^) As for any hidden meaning...I have no idea. If the person isn't usually one to do that, then there probably wasn't any.

I always think one thing at the time of a conversation though, and then talk myself into a whole new meaning in my head. I'm very good at that. ;^)

I seriously doubt they would have cast you if you weren't talented and deserving, darling Candice! I heard about your callback (well, the first one), and it sounds like you were hilarious! After all, someone had to win the role. Why not you? Plus, we know you can sing. I'm sure the person really was trying to compliment you and didn't realize it sounded so iffy.

I second Erica's comments about your being talented. Miss Megan's, too! You are fabulous, Darling!
