God Be With You Till We Meet Again

Today was the funeral of a lady in my ward. She was the first person to welcome me to my ward and she always had a warm smile for me when she saw me. She was a very sweet, caring and intelligent women. She will be missed. I was asked to accompany the soloist at the funeral. He sang "I Wonder When He Comes Again" from the Primary Songbook. I played the first verse straight through then on the 2nd verse played my own made up accompaniment with some flurish. I think it went really well.

For the closing hymn we sang "God Be With You Till We Meet Again". That is such a stong hymn to me. It has such simple words but they mean so much. We are literally asking that the Lord bless those that leave us either through death, or other distance and time. It also reassures that we will see them again. It's almost a guarentee that we will see each other again. It's not God be with you until we possibly meet again it's Till We Meet Again. It gives such comfort. I believe that this song has been sung at each family members funeral and even though I had a hard time singing it, it really brings comfort to my heart and reminds me of the sacrifice Jesus Christ made for us so we can see each other again and so we can see our Heavenly Father again. My last day of seminary in 9th grade my teacher asked that we sing it for our closing hymn. After we were done he said, "I know God will be with you till we meet again." Instead of saying 'Goodbye' to people, maybe we should say "God be with you till we meet again". It may bring comfort to your friends and family. So I end this blog with the special words of this song.

God be with you till we meet again;
by his councels guide, uphold you,
with his sheep securely fold you;
God be with you till we meet again.
*
God be with you till we meet again;
When life's perils thick confound you,
Put his arms unfailing round you.
God be with you till we meet again.
*
God be with you till we meet again:
Keep love's banner floating o'er you;
Smite death's theat'ning wave before you.
God be with you till we meet again.
*
Till we meet, till we meet,
Till we meet at Jesus' feet.
Till we meet, till we meet,
God Be With You Till We Meet Again.

I love that hymn too. We always sing it in my singing group when someone leaves on a mission. It was really, really hard to get through it when Kyle left though.

We sang this last week at Jason's brother's funeral. This hymn touches everyone, regardless of their faith. It certainly brought tears to everyone's eyes there.
