R.S.V.P. or "Repondez s'il vous plait" is a French phrase that means, "Please Answer". The literal translation is "Respond, if it pleases you." No, I don't speak French, I have a dear friend named Wikipedia.
I'm starting to think that many people don't know what RSVP actually means. I'm throwing my sister-in-law a bridal shower and on the invite I put to RSVP to me and left my phone number. I'm having people call me and say they are RSVPing for Tif's shower...then they say nothing. So I have to ask, are you attending or not attending? Then they tell me they're attending but think it's weird I'm asking like they've already told me. RSVPing means your calling to tell the person if you are coming OR not coming; not just that you are attending.
I don't mean to embarrass or offend anyone who was not aware of this or anyone who has done this for this particular party. I just want to inform everyone what it actually means. See, I'm being informative, not mean. :)

Dude, throwing a party is stressful enough... but not knowing if people are coming or not... that's the wrost thing ever.
Maybe next time you could include an email address... i find it easiest to respond to invitations that have email address for RSVPing, just cause it's quick and easy.
there are also EVITE.come... where people can say maybe, no, or yes to coming to the party. (or facebook has that too!)
"RSVP Regrets Only"... is a popular thing... meaning you assume those who are invited will come unless they tell you so.
I hope you have fun at your party, and people start respecting the rules to RSVP!
